To the memory of Scheele the Royal Society of Sciences at Uppsala mounted a memorial plaque on the apothecary house in 1897. The house was at the corner of Stora Torget and Kungsängsgatan, now the Åhléns house [department store]. In 1959 the plaque was removed when the building was pulled down. The plaque is the one before you.
Another interesting, although not important fact, is that the Swedish Parliament on 19 October 1868 gave the apothecary G. Piltz permission to rename the pharmacy "Lejonet." It is said (but not certain) the reason for this change was that an obscure tavern in Uppsala also had the same name Lejonet.
